Jones, who underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003, opens up to Oprah on the challenges she continues to face after losing weight in the public eye. Lance Armstrong Updates His Fans

Lance Armstrong Shares Medical UpdateAfter his crash in the first stage of Vuelta Castilla y Leon race in Spain on Monday, doctors originally believed that Lance Armstrong had suffered a simple fracture of the right clavicle.

The seven-time Tour de France Champion received treatment at Rio Carrion Hospital in Palencia immediately after the crash and flew back to the states for further medical evaluation at Austin Sports Medicine in Texas. It was there that full extent of Armstrong's injuries were revealed.

Armstrong updated his countless fans by video this afternoon at LiveStrong.com and announced that his "collar bone was actually in quite a few pieces." Armstrong underwent surgery at the medical center earlier in the week to repair the damage and even shared his post-op x-ray in the video, which shows the temporary plate and 12 screws that were put in place to help the bones heal.

Star Jones: Positively Blogging

Star Jones Launches New BlogAfter a media circus of a wedding, a media circus of a departure from The View, and a failed re-entry back into said circus, Star Jones has quietly returned to voicing her opinions - this time, via her new blog, Positively Star.

Jones, who created her blog to mark her 47th birthday and to "celebrate what is blessed, good, smart, stimulating, interesting, inspiring, fun, joyous and positive" in her life, introduces herself to her readers as "an American lawyer chick who is free, black and grown."

Star has a clear vision of what her blog will deliver - and it won't be legal banter and debate with lesser educated commentators or Klan-like anonymous instigators. Positively Star will be just that. Positive. And visitors can expect a regimented schedule of posts...

R.I.P. Blender Magazine

Blender Magazine Closes it's Doors

Blender Magazine has folded.

Alpha Media Group announced today that it will cease publication of it's print media, though blender.com will remain an online resource. Unfortunately, it's .com presence won't be enough to save the jobs of 30 employees who will now to be added to the country's growing list of unemployed.

Alpha's chief executive, Stephen Duggan, said in a statement, “Blender has provided unmatched music coverage and entertainment news in its unique voice to a profoundly dedicated audience of music enthusiasts since 2001. However, given the reality of the current economic climate, we are unable to continue publication.”

Alpha Media Group, which also owns Maxim Magazine, has plans to combine Maxim and Maxim.com, which means a shake-up in staff across the board. Joe Levy, the now former editor in chief of Blender, will become editor in chief of the newly combined Maxim and Maxim.com, while Jay Woodruff, formerly editor in chief of Maxim Digital, will become the new chief content officer.

Blender's demise did not come as much of surprise to the publishing world. The writing was on the wall when the Publisher's Information Bureau released figures that showed a 31 percent drop in Blender's ad pages for 2008.

Blender's April issue, featuring Kelly Clarkson on it's cover, will be it's last. In it, Clarkson reveals in a TMI interview that she pees in the shower.

Hey, at least they're going out on a high note.

The breaking news was apparently delivered via The Pony Express.

The state of New Jersey put its nose where it didn't belong and caused some hair raising outrage amongst women of the Garden State.

The New York Post reminded their readers that while change has come to America, you shouldn't expect equal opportunities at these hot spots any time soon.

Oprah Winfrey surprised Ellen DeGeneres on her show this week when she Skyped her way onto Ellen's set to tell her she had finally landed the coveted cover of "O."

Two words you never thought you'd hear in the same sentence:
Vanity Fair & Metallica. Wish we were there, Austin.

And Natasha Richardson was finally laid to rest today near her home in Millbrook, NY. The Daily News reports that Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Alan Rickman, Laura Linney, Uma Thurman, Timothy Dalton and Ralph Fiennes were among the close family friends who joined Liam Neeson and Vanessa Redgrave for Natasha's final farewell at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

For more on the life and the passing of Jade Goody, London's Daily Telegraph has posted a wonderful history and obituary.

We can't think of a better way to pay tribute to Jade Goody than to urge each woman who reads this to get screened. With regular screenings and follow-up care, cervical cancer is avoidable, and, if caught early, curable.

Natasha Richardson: Reports Turn Tragic

Reports claim Natasha Richardson Brain Dead After Ski AccidentThere has been a heartbreaking update in the medical status of actress Natasha Richardson. The New York Post, citing statements from Richardson's friends, is reporting that the actress has been pronounced brain dead.

The 45-year-old mother of two is currently being treated at a Montreal hospital for a head injury sustained at the Mont Tremblant ski resort yesterday. The British-born actress reportedly fell during a private lesson on the resort's beginner trail. In a statement, Tremblant spokeswoman, Lyne Lortie says that Richardson was “accompanied by an experienced ski instructor who immediately called the ski patrol.”

Lortie adds the actress “did not show any visible sign of injury, but the ski patrol followed strict procedures and brought her back to the bottom of the slope and insisted she should see a doctor.” Another resort rep, Catherine Lacasse, says Richardson “was laughing and joking” after the incident.

As an additional precautionary measure, the ski instructor, as well as the ski patrol, accompanied Mrs. Richardson to her hotel. They again recommended she should be seen by a doctor.”

“Approximately an hour after the incident, Mrs. Richardson was not feeling good. An ambulance was called and Mrs. Richardson was brought to the Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe and was later transferred to Hopital du Sacre-Coeur.

Richardson's husband, actor Liam Neeson, was shooting a movie in Toronto when he received word of the accident and immediately rushed to Montreal to be by his wife's side. The Post is now reporting that Neeson will accompany Richardson when she is airlifted back to a New York hospital later today, at which time, the paper claims, Richardson will be removed from life support - after friends and family, including her two children, 13-year-old Michael and 12-year-old Daniel, and her mother, actress Vanessa Redgrave, have said their goodbyes.

Since these reports are only citing "sources" and "friends," there is still hope that these updates have been greatly exaggerated. TMZ updated their website at 2:00 PM this afternoon and claim they have spoken to hospital representatives who only state that Richardson is suffering from brain swelling and has not been proclaimed brain dead. TMZ did however confirm that Richardson is being transported by jet; presumably to a New York hospital.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Natasha Richardson and her family.
It's never too late for a miracle.

Word To Your Mutha! Vanilla Ice Apologizes - For Everything.

Vanilla Ice ApologizesFor all you haters out there, you're day has finally come.

Vanilla Ice has just apologized to the world - for everything. For Ice, Ice, Baby, the baggy pants, the bogus bio - all of it. Granted, it's obviously a paid promo - hence the branded, viral marketing video wrapped up like a PSA - but he says it none the less.

Thanks to the folks over at Right Music Wrongs (a.k.a Virgin Mobile Australia), Vanilla Ice, a.k.a. Rob Van Winkle, is currently enjoying a new virtual fame as this video is already flooding blogs and inboxes from Hicksville to Hong Kong. Job well done guys.

Vanilla Ice stands amongst the likes of David Hasselhoff and Milli Vanilli, all of whom are artists "on trial" at Right Music Wrongs. Oddly enough, visitors had the chance to vote on whether Vanilla Ice was innocent or guilty of creating a music wrong, and the overwhelming majority voted him innocent. But alas, a paycheck is a paycheck, and an apology video was born.

Personally, I'm secure enough to admit that Ice, Ice, Baby continues to be a guilty pleasure whenever I hear it. (Yeah, I said it!) As a matter of fact, when we caught up with Mr. Van Winkle last summer in Hampton Bays, we brought BlogHamptons iTV along to record it. 20 years later and you still know every word. Check it out.

Update:
Hmmmmmmm...after looking at RightMusicWrongs.org, guess what we found? OUR VIDEO! Interesting.
