Oh Deer! Get Well Soon Matt Lauer

Matt Lauer

Today show host Matt Lauer is recuperating from a dislocated shoulder this morning after having a run-in with a deer while bike riding near his home on Long Island.

The Today show host was peddling over the weekend when a deer jumped out in from him. In an attempt to avoid the dastardly doe, Lauer slammed on the brakes and sent himself flying over the handlebars.

Co-host Meredith Vieira told viewers on this morning's show that she had received an email from Lauer about the incident in which he joked that “the deer was hired by the competition.”

Update: Oddly enough, Ryan Seacrest just tweeted a Matt Lauer update...

Lange & Barrymore in HBO's Grey Gardens

HBO Films to premiere Grey Gardens on April 18th

On April 18th, HBO Films will premiere Grey Gardens. The real life story of Edith "Big Edie" Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter, Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale - the aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

Though the touching yet disturbing mother-daughter chronicle of two eccentric women living in isolation in their ramshackle East Hampton mansion has been told before, HBO Films had the luxury of recreating the grandeur from which these women came. Having their leading ladies, the incomparable Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore, portray the pair over a span of 40 years, the viewer gets to witness the inexplicable transformation that took them from high society to wretched squalor. While doing so, HBO still managed to tell the Edie's poignant tale with the same sensitivity the Maysles Brothers did when they first brought the world their classic documentary back in 1975.

Shortly before the stage version of Grey Gardens debuted on Broadway in 2006, Gail Sheehy wrote brilliant piece in New York Magazine that deserves to be revisited. Sheehy recalls her first encounter with Little Edie, at the dilapidated, shingled estate that Edie herself described as having that "overgrown Louisiana Bayou look." It's a great read and an insightful back-story for anyone who can't wait for HBO's April 18th premiere.

Hampton's Sweetheart

Christie Brinkley: Super Model, Super Mom and ActivistChristie Brinkley might have had a couple of hard years, but nothing can stop this wonder woman.

The Hampton's knows Brinkley as a person with charm and class. To the world she is perhaps best known for her three appearances on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition, and for her long-running contract with both Cover-girl and the Total Gym.

Brinkley hasn't stop modeling (honestly would you if you looked like her?) and has since been adding on to her agenda.
