So we had to ask...what happened to the contortionists, fire-eaters, mentalists and erotic aerialists? No one on-site at MYC had much info for us on Saturday night, so we turned to General Manager Lloyd Van Horn and asked for the inside scoop on the cancellation -- and why we weren't notified.
According to Mr. Van Horn, there was a cancellation notice sent out to the media from Alchimia Public Relations. "Unfortunately," said Mr. Van Horn, BlogHamptons.com was inadvertently omitted from that notification list. He apologized for the oversight and added that cancellation of Cirque Sublime "was a huge loss for us as we were really looking forward to the event."
Better late than never, we have since received that cancellation notice:
Producers of the planned “Cirque Sublime” extravaganza slated for September 26 at the Montauk Yacht Club announced the cancellation of the upcoming performance, citing a misunderstanding with the town regarding the permits necessary for the erection of the tent on the property of the Montauk Yacht Club. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to rectify the situation by the end of this week. We'll try again next Spring...but we'll certainly be calling ahead first! ;)
Lloyd Van Horn, General Manger of the Montauk Yacht Club, hopes that the producers will be able to reschedule for a date in early spring of 2010 once they have obtained the proper permits. Ticket purchasers can contact Smarttix for refund.

Rowdy Hall certainly had reason to celebrate this summer. It seemed that every entertainment weekly tried to keep tabs on the celebrity clientele that chowed down at the East Hampton eatery nestled in the Parrish Mews. Of the local notables that landed on the gossip pages, Rudy Giuliani, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, Dick Cavett, U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, House star Peter Jacobson, Washington Post’s Ben Bradlee, Amy Irving, and rapper Busta Rhymes were just a few of the high profile diners that enjoyed a season of classic pub fare out on Rowdy's patio.
Now that their sizzling summer has been replaced with crisp fall air, A-Listers are keeping warm by the fireplace that's roaring in the Arts & Crafts inspired dining room and the famed eatery is continuing the celebration -- only now with a decidedly German twist. It's Oktoberfest! And it's turning Rowdy Hall on its Wienerschnitzel!
Read it online at NYPost.com and let us know what you think.

Georgica owner Antonio Fuccio, Nikki Beach Midtown owner George Lordano, Georgica Executive Chef Robert Hesse and Rally Co-Host and Founder Nathaniel Christian at the Official Rally Finish Party at Georgica Restaurant & Lounge. Photo by Lisa Wagner/BlogHamptons.comThe First Annual Ferrari Hamptons Rally kicked off in style this past Saturday at Georgica Restaurant & Lounge. Co-hosts Nathaniel Christian and Nikki Beach Midtown welcomed more than fifty Ferrari aficionados, who collectively toured some of the most scenic routes along the South Fork in over 25 Million Dollars worth of exotic super cars. Page Six editor, Richard Johnson, led the two-hour and 46 mile inaugural drive through East Hampton, Amagansett, Sag Harbor, and Southampton. New York Jets safety Kerry Rhodes, celebrity stylist Nolé Marin, DJ Mel DeBarge and fitness guru John Basedow were among the VIP guests who met up with the drivers and owners back at Georgica for an invitation only, red carpet reception and champagne brunch.
The convoy of Ferrari's, which ranged from vintage to brand spanking new, was a sight to behold as they cruised past priceless views of estates, vineyards, and marinas and looped along the ocean. The weather was an added bonus and the luxury sponsors that awaited everyone at Georgica helped to make it a perfect way to spend our last Saturday of summer!
We hope to get some video of the tour from the event's founder, Nathaniel Christian, later next week -- but for now, check after the jump for photos from the Official Rally Finish Party at Georgica.
On Saturday night, Jon and his wife Dorothea hosted a private Labor Day party at their East Hampton home. But guests looking for a repeat of his legendary 2007 holiday bash were in for a much more low-key experience. Unlike the party that made international headlines, where Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters formed a supergroup and performed classics like I Saw Her Standing There and Long Tall Sally, this intimate backyard fête was downright quiet in comparison and was over shortly after at 11pm.
“@Bethenny wonders who is more cheezy: me at philippe w 2 btls of skinnygirl booze entering sg mobile or j gosselin smokin butt in pkg lot w an earring?”
In other Housewife news, Ramona, Jill, LuAnn, and Alex all boarded a yacht in Sag Harbor to film their own scenes for Season 3. We're told the drama started to unfold before the ladies even left the dock.
Consummate bachelor Hugh Grant was in Southampton over Labor Day Weekend. Grant was in town with his brother Jamie to support their father, James Grant, who had a show at the Keszler Gallery on Main Street. James’s exhibition, “James Grant Watercolors,” featured over 80 pieces of his work and benefited the Southampton Fresh Air Home.
Desperate Housewives star Kyle McLaughlin and his wife Desiree Gruber hit up The Blue Parrot in East Hampton for dinner over Labor Day Weekend, while James Lipton and actor Jean Reno (The Professional, Pink Panther, The Da Vinci Code) chose Nick & Toni's.
Also at Nick & Toni's, Former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton dined with Alan Patricof and his wife Susan on Tuesday night. Surrounded by secret service, the Clintons enjoyed fresh salads to start with a plate of zucchini chips to share at their table in the front room. Hilary sampled the Bucatini all’Amatriciana, while Bill had Penne alla Vecchia Bettola.
Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman dined at Matto in East Hampton with his wife and friends on Saturday night. They all had Branzino filleted tableside. Over in Amagansett, Mario Batali and his orange Crocs enjoyed a taco lunch at La Fondita on Tuesday.
Venturing outside of the Hamptons for a BBQ fix was Star Jones. The former daytime Diva and her “S.O.” Herb Wilson paid a visit to the working-class town of Ronkonkoma last weekend to fill a craving for BBQ Ribs at the chain restaurant Smokey Bones, near exit 60 on the L.I.E. The couple enjoyed ribs, slaw and corn bread on their way home from the US Open.
We'll have more tomorrow on "Emmett, Down In My Heart" and the brilliant job Clare Coss and the cast did of bringing the story Emmett Till to life. We'll also have more photos of Colin Powell, Danny Glover, Mercedes Ruehl, B. Smith, Director Jim Lawson and the entire cast!
AXE Lounge wrapped up their debut summer at Dune nightclub this Labor Day Weekend and BlogHamptons was there to catch every scantily clad, liquor soaked, debaucherous moment!
The AXE Gallery is up and it's our largest of the summer! Were you spotted dancing on the ceiling or chugging Hornitos? Are you one of the masked bandits who dirty danced the night away? Maybe you were the guy channeling Normal Gentle from America Idol or the giggly girl who told us her panties were stolen? Better yet, are you the one who actually stole her panties? Let us know in the comments how you spent your last weekend at AXE Lounge!

In William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe, filmmakers Emily Kunstler and Sarah Kunstler explore the life of their father, the late radical civil rights lawyer. In the 1960s and 70s, Kunstler fought for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr. and represented the famed “Chicago 8” activists who protested the Vietnam War. When the inmates took over Attica prison, or when the American Indian Movement stood up to the federal government at Wounded Knee, they asked Kunstler to be their lawyer.
On Saturday, September 5th, the great Danny Glover and Kathleen Chalfant will star in Emmett, Down in My Heart by Clare Coss. The production will be directed by Jim Lawson and portions of the proceeds will go to benefit the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center. Clare Coss's profoundly moving play is vital for our time. The interwoven stories of Emmett Till, his mother Mrs. Till-Mobley, and white school teacher Roanne Taylor create a rich, dramatic work that touches the heart and provokes thought and action. A local gospel choir will introduce the evening.
Tickets for Saturday night's stage production are $40 for members, $42 for non-members. $100 VIP tickets are still available and will include a post-show Garden Reception.
Despite the fact that we're in a steadfast denial that it’s already Labor Day Weekend, we’re being reminded at every turn that summer is indeed coming to a close. And nothing quite marks the end of summer like our favorite restaurants rolling out their new fall hours. La Fondita, Townline BBQ, and Nick & Toni’s are leading the pack with their new summer-crushing operating schedule.
Let’s start with La Fondita…

The 2009 Hampton Classic Poster by Henry Koehler. (Available for purchase, signed by the artist.)Lola Consuelos, Destry Spielberg and Jessica Springsteen were among the celebrity offspring who not only participated in this year's Hampton Classic Horse Show but also rode their respective horses into champion ranks.
8-year-old Lola made mom Kelly Ripa and dad Mark Consuelos proud when she took champion in the 9 and Under Short Stirrup category on her horse, Dawn's Early Light. Steven Spielberg's daughter, 12-year-old Destry, snagged champion in her Child Equitation Low category with her horse, Take a Bow, and Jessica Springsteen, the 17-year-old apple of The Boss' eye, placed first in the Small and Large Junior Hunter Divisions. Even Mayor Bloomberg's daughter, Georgina, galloped her way to victory aboard Fiedi 3 in the $7,500 Dreaming Creek 1.45m Open Jumper Class.
So what's their secret? Good genes? The bankroll to afford world class ponies and trainers? We won't completely rule out the bankroll factor but, after seeing the hard work and determination these young ladies showed at the Classic, we tend to think they simply inherited their parents drive to succeed at what they love.
Our congratulations to all of the spectacular riders at The 2009 Hampton Classic Horse Show!

We have to give it up to the teenage entrepreneur for tapping in to a niche market, but what’s next? Double-decker bus tours and some cheesy guy in a worn out Spider-Man costume greeting folks fresh off the Jitney?
The times they are a changin’.

After a very long and emotional 12 day absence, WE ARE BACK!
Having been gone for so long and missing two weekend’s worth of events, I figured I owed all of our readers an explanation. So, here it goes…
