So far, this season has seen just about every form of celebrity you can possibly imagine. The biggest headline grabber had to be Jon & Kate Plus 8’s Jon Gosselin. The newly single octodad rolled up in his new BMW with his new BFF, Michael Lohan, and a gaggle of paparazzi in tow. By the time Week 2's match was over, there wasn't a suburban housewife in Wichita who didn't know about Polo thanks to the tabloid frenzy his well timed appearance caused. Polar opposite on the attention grabbing scale was Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford. He hit up the VIP tent on Opening Day, and never came out. Chace was celebrating his birthday that day and preferred to keep the party private. Instead of posing for pics or mingling with fans, the Gossip Guy chatted up reality darling Kourtney Kardashian and her then boyfriend, now baby daddy, Scott Disick. Week 4 saw one of the most well known divorcée's on the planet, Heather Mills, who swung by the Polo grounds and showed off her maxi dress and mini-do. Desperate Housewives’ Kyle MacLachlan and his Project Runway producer wife, Desiree Gruber, showed off their own creation, the adorable baby Callum, on Opening Day. Polo regular Beth Ostrosky Stern was also on hand for Opening Day festivities, even though she still hasn't been able to convince Howard to spend a day milling about under the tents. Star Jones was able to sweet talk her man, Chef Herb Wilson, into catching a match. The happy couple even brought along their dog, Miss Pinky.
Throughout the last five weeks we've also seen former co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios Ben Silverman, True Beauty’s Nolé Marin, racecar driver Tim George Jr., and actor Sebastian Stan - sans girlfriend Leighton Meester. Socialite and songwriter Denise Rich presented the MVP Trophy on Week 4, Michael Lohan and Dina Lohan turned their run-in at Polo into a juicy Page Six item, and five out of six of The Real Housewives of NYC all made Polo a regular stop on their summer social itinerary. We're assuming the missing Housewife, Bethenny Frankel, is either allergic to horses or she's saving the cat fights and cast drama for Season 3. We tend to think it's the latter!
So, what will they have in store for us on Closing Day? Your guess is as good as mine, but something tells me it'll definitely be note worthy. Let's just hope it's a good note!
You can see all of our Polo highlights in our Photo Gallery, and we'll have our cameras at the ready for all of the Closing Day fun!
